What is it: metal planing?

The grinders of our pepper mills are turned from high-quality stainless steel - but in order for them to grind the peppercorn properly, it is necessary to create (grinding) teeth.
And this is done with a metal plane, which planes groove by groove. A somewhat time-consuming activity, but worth it: the grinder now really cuts or grinds optimally and also guarantees longevity in use.
